out of hiding

A preview of what's to come...

When I sit back and think about this collection, it feels like it is truly a lifetime in the making. I often get asked how long a piece of art took me -- I tend to say 32 years because that's how old I am and I pour so much of myself, my experiences, my heart into my art. However, unlike previously collections, "Out of Hiding" just feels so deeply in tune with my own personal evolution as both an artist and a girl learning to walk confidently in His strength + dignity.

This particular collection started coming to life in February of 2019. I had recently released my collection, "Light" the previous November and felt a stirring in my soul to go bold. "Light" was what I needed at that time -- it was an emergence, it was overcoming darkness with light and beauty - and, as with all of my work, the collection was a reflection of that season of my life. New to Atlanta, overcoming the darkness of my divorce, and stepping into Light.

Coming "Out of Hiding", stepping into my own, learning to walk boldly and confidently where He is calling me has been the theme of the last couple of years for me. Learning to walk boldly where He is leading me and to move forward confidently, allowing grace-filled mercy to triumph.

I'll be sharing more over the coming weeks, but for now -- here's a taste of the poem that inspired the collection and a few detail shots of the works I'll be releasing.

"Out of Hiding"

I see you, little girl
Hiding in your corner of this great, big world

The joy and laughter that once filled your days,
… you now spend your days trying to figure out the ways…

To live again
To love again
To trust again

I see you, little girl
Hiding in your corner of this great, big world

This world knocked you down
Made you feel like you may drown,
Beaten, bruised, and kicked around

I see you, little girl
Hiding in your corner of this great, big world
Filled with doubt, you wonder...
Will it ever be safe to come out?

He sees you, precious girl
Made specifically for this great, big world

Clothed in His strength and dignity
Like you were always meant to be

He sees you, precious one
You no longer need to run

“Come out of hiding”, He whispers on your heart
This world is broken, and it’s time for you to start

To live again
To love again
To trust again
